OAU Students’ Union Officials In Bloody Fight Over N3.8Million

#Nigeria

Obafemi Awolowo University Students Union Vice President, Jacob Tosin, popularly called Emerald, and Social Director Adedayo Afolabi, also known as Lamba, participated in fisticuff on Tuesday at an executive meeting held at the Presidential Office of the Union, Oyekan Ibukun.  Study showed that the match is associated with the N3.8 million Student Union's reimbursement of funds released by university management on 31 August. The Premium Times learned that the students had decided to start some projects with the funds that include; renovation of trade union library, construction of the SUB (student union building) relaxation center and construction of a staircase around the Alumni-Archi axis.  Emerald had expressed dissatisfaction with the decision. The welfare director of the Union, Ajiboye Adekanmi, who spoke with our reporter said that the exercise ignored his proposal on how the funds would be utilized. "The vice president was not happy with the decision because we refused her funds for" healthier package. " "We told her to wait for the 2016/17 session payout, but she left."  "As she proceeded to the door to end the meeting, Lamba (Mr. Afolabi) told her, but she raised the alarm of harassment. Emerald attacked Lamba first before retaliated. Later she opened the president's refrigerator but could not find any bottle except a malt bottle on the shelf, which she broke to attack Lamba.  When both parties engaged in another round of physical struggle, lamba headbutted vice president, Emerald. They both were sustained injuries and were taken to the university health center, said Adekanmi.
