Man Utd Legend Ferdinand Confirms Move Into Boxing

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand confirmed he would replace gloves, getting a new challenge in the boxing world. England's former England announced that at the age of 38 and two years after retiring from football, he wanted to become a professional in another sporting field. Ferdinand spent nearly 20 years at the highest level during a celebrity career that saw him as the favor of West Ham, Leeds, Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers - while winning 81 caps for his country. She is now moving in a different direction, as part of the "Defender to Contender" project, and hopes that his support to Betfair will enable her to earn her UK Boxing Board Control before entering the ring within the paid ranks. Ferdinand said, "When Betfair called for the challenge of Defender to Contender, the opportunity to prove myself in a new sport was a real victim. "Boxing is an amazing sport for the mind and body. I've always had the passion for it and this challenge is a perfect opportunity to show people what is possible. "It's a challenge I will not easily, so I can not all become professional boxers, but with the team of Betfair experts, I am the leader I have to succeed, everything is possible." Ferdinand will be training with former WBC super-middleweight Richie Woodhall. The Olympic Boxing coach said, "In all honesty, I think Rio can certainly be a box as a professional time. It has a natural strength in its right hand, it is extremely handsome and very enthusiastic to learn what is encouraging. "Style is wise that it is very raw and I will have to develop this time, but it has all the natural ingredients, the height and the advantages of the boxers in their weight, and definitely has the potential to win the title in the future." Betfair will present many former and current boxers Ferdinand to key locations during their campaign efforts to help them prepare for specific battles and perfect their skills.
