The High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Nigeria, the Major General. Sharif Kaikoba, said the deals had been concluded by some investors in his country to set up a ceramic factory in Kogi. Ms. Petra Akinti-Onyegbule, the chief press secretary of the governor of Kogi, revealed this in a statement Sunday in Lokoja.

Kaikoba said the industry would have taken off since then, but had to put it on hold because of the security challenges facing the state. He explained that his country had a genuine and sincere interest in the economic development of the State. The high commissioner also praised Governor Yahaya Bello for the notable improvement in the state's security situation and called for his livelihood to create an enabling environment for foreign and local investors.

"My visit is to discuss economic opportunities with the governor in favor of the cordial relations existing between Nigeria and Bangladesh," he said. Responding, Governor Bello highlighted the enormous opportunities that abound in the state, especially in the areas of agriculture and mining, and called on investors to exploit the opportunities. He said the security challenges facing the state have become history, commending security agencies and the people of the state for their collective efforts to address head security issues.

"The crime has been drastically reduced since criminals can not freely exercise their trade in the state," he said. The governor told the high commissioner that he would not allow bureaucratic bottlenecks to thwart investors' efforts to establish the pottery factory in any area of their choice in the state. He also pledged to continue his efforts to promote economic growth in the state by creating ease of doing business, tax reforms, better infrastructure and providing incentives for investors.
