20 members of the gang that abducted 6 Lagos State students for more than 2 months died in gun battle with the police earlier on Friday, during the rescue operation in the creeks of Ondo state. Lagos State Commissioner of Police,Fatai Owoseni commented at a news conference in Lagos. He added one civilian volunteer died, while 8 policemen and 4 other civilian volunteers sustained injuries.
Owoseni said that a suspect, who attempted to cheat the parents of the students by asking that they should bring ransom to Abeokuta, was arrested. He is in police custody, he added.
