Nigerian man ordained 1st black Bishop of Woolwich, UK


Woyin Karowei Dorgu has been ordained the 13th Church of England Bishop in the diocese of Woolwich in South-East London.
 
 Dorgu becomes the first black person to be ordained Church of England bishop in 20 years. Prior to his consecration, Bishop Karowei was Vicar of St John, Upper Holloway.  
He was born and brought up in Nigeria, he worked as a medical doctor before ordination. He was born in June 1958, Burutu, Nigeria attended the University of Lagos and London School of Theology, Oak Hill College
