Akindele’s removal on Friday was supported by 20 lawmakers of the state assembly comprising 15 members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and 5 members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the Vanguard, Hon Malachi Coker was elected as acting speaker while Hon Ayodele Arowele was elected as the deputy speaker. Hon Olamide George also emerged as the majority leader.
The Ondo speaker was was caught with N15 million cash which he claimed was being taken to the speaker on her instruction.

Hon Olugbenga Araoyinbo confirmed that 20 lawmakers of the Assembly signed the impeachment notice of the Ondo Speaker and her Deputy.
He stressed that the removal of the speaker was lawful as it was done within the assembly complex and with the Clerk of House, Bode Akinyelu in attendance.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon Siji Akindiose, has however described the action of his colleagues as null and void, insisting that the leadership of the Assembly remains intact.
Akindele was removed from her position as speaker in similar fashion in March 2016 when 18 out of 26 members of the assembly voted to sack her for alleged high-handedness and other sundry offences.
