25-year-old Hindatu Umar Becomes The 1st Woman And The Youngest Person To Be A Local Government Chairperson

 


A 25-year-old Hindatu Umar has resumed duty as the chairperson of Arugungu local government in Kebbi state.
Argungu city is one of the biggest local government in northern Nigeria and known for its annual fishing festival.

 Hindatu who was appointed  by the Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is a 25 year-old secondary school graduate and the youngest female to occupy such position in Nigeria.
She was formerly the deputy to the local chairman but got  promoted when the tenure of the  chairman expired.

However, some indigenes of Arugungu seem not to be happy with Hindatu’s appointment as they cited her age, lack of experience, her educational qualification and the fact that she is a woman as factors against her appointment
