It’s been about a week since singer Keyshia Cole was arrested on suspicion of battery in Los Angeles, and her husband is finally speaking out about their failed marriage. NBA player Daniel Gibson says he tried to fix his marriage to Keyshia, but “he couldn’t force her to stay if she insisted on leaving.” The couple had filed for divorce around June or July of this year. In an interview with VladTV.com, Gibson admitted to cheating and spoke out against the media’s coverage of celebrity couples and how social media had a negative effect on his marriage.
Now, granted, being in the public eye can definitely take its toll on any relationship, but there was more than just media scrutiny that seemed to play a role in this break-up. Keyshia’s arrest seemed to shed light on one of the problems in her marriage. Actually, it was more about where she was arrested than why that mattered. Keyshia’s incident went down at the condo of Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19. Now, like it or not, Keyshia is being romantically linked to Birdman.
So to sum things up, now Keyshia’s probably got a bitter soon-to-be ex-husband, who is out in the streets saying he wanted to work things out. Meanwhile, she’s at another man’s condo getting arrested for attacking a woman she believes he is sleeping with. Messy.
It’s been reported that Keyshia’s husband stepped out on her, but there have also been claims that she was doing her thing too. Whether or not she was with Birdman while she was with her husband remains to be seen, but getting arrested for attacking a woman in Birdman’s condo just seems a bit ambitious, even if you are headed for a divorce from your husband. Keyshia allegedly said “What are you doing with my man?” and then attacked the woman, scratching up the woman’s face.
According to reports, Keyshia was arrested (not by a cop, but by a citizen??) for battery and on an outstanding reckless driving warrant. Then, she was released from jail later that day on $46,000 bail. So much for turning up.
Though Keyshia, Birdman, nor Gibson have comment specifically on the arrest, subliminal messages, courtesy of social media of course, have been posted by Keyshia Cole. “Sometimes you just have to bow your head, say a prayer and weather the storm,” the singer posted to Instagram along with an awkward and otherwise unnecessary photo of a bird. In another post, she said “N**gaz be like ‘WTF I gotta lie for.’ And still be lying.” And if that wasn’t enough to speculate that the relationship between the two of them was serious (at least to her), she also tweeted “My real and your real ain’t the same that’s why we don’t click,” and then “Fake. Just A Fake.”
If these tweets and Instagram posts say anything, it’s really that Keyshia does not know how to control her emotions. Despite the fact that she and her husband broke up earlier this year, they are still married, so running around behind Birdman and getting arrested for putting your hands on someone that was obviously invited up there is a tad bit inappropriate. There were also reports that the woman she found in Birdman’s condo was actually someone who worked for him. Sources told TMZ that Sabrina Mercadel, the woman who was allegedly attacked by Keyshia, worked for Cash Money for over 10 years and that she was not alone with Birdman, but was one of four people in the condo. If that’s true, there’s not really much for Keyshia to say. Oops?
