Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and members of the Houston City Council staged a ceremony on Sunday to honor the rapper's philanthropic efforts.
Megan Thee Stallion was given the key to the city before Turner declared May 2 to be Megan Thee Stallion Day.
Megan's mother's and grandmother's birthdays are also on this day.
“Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities,” Turner said, according to ABC 11. “She assisted people after the 2021 winter storm, during the pandemic, and helped those struggling with homelessness. I look forward to watching her grow as an artist and humanitarian.”
Speaking about it, Megan said: “I really can’t believe I got my own key to my own city.” And about her mother and grandmother, she said:
