Official Trailer for Ayinla Omowura’s Biopic “Áyìnlá” is Finally Here! #AYINLAiscoming to cinemas on June 18!

#AYINLAthemovie tells the story of Nigerian musician, Ayinla Omowura, who used Apala music to address issues of the contemporary society - commending and criticising various governments and individual acts.

 Alhaji Ayinla Omowura, whose real name was 'Wahidi Ayinla Yusuf Gbogbolowo' was a well loved Apala musician who was born in Itoko, Abeokuta in 1933. He was known by a number of monikers, including #AlhajiCostly #EegunMogaji #Anigilaje and more.

During his heyday, he created a lot social awareness and citizen education and engaged in the elaborate celebration of the Yoruba language and culture.

He is said to have recorded over 22 albums before his untimely death in 1980.


The producers of the Ayinla Omowura biopic “Áyìnlá” have released the official trailer ahead of the movie’s theatrical release on June 18, 2021. @greohstudios is very proud to partner with legendary filmmaker, Tunde Kelani to bring you this masterpiece inspired by the life and times of Ayinla, Omowura.


The film, produced by Jade Osiberu and directed by veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani, tells the story of Ayinla Omowura’s rise to fame. The movie starsAdedimeji Lateef, who plays the lead role of Ayinla, alongside Kunle Afolayan, Mr Macaroni, Bimbo Manuel, Bimbo Ademoye, Jumoke Otedola, Ade Laoye, and Omowunmi Dada.
