Jennifer Lawrence interviewed Kim Kardashian during Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The Oscar winner, who is a Kardashians super-fan, was guest co-hosting while Kimmel is out this week and asked the reality star a number of wild questions.
Towards the end of her opening monologue, Lawrence told the audience, “My utter obsession, our lord Jesus God Kim Kardashian is here. I recently went to Kim’s house for dinner, which was the best night of my life. I drank five martinis and wound up naked in her closet. I’m dead serious. I’ll ask her about it. We’ll talk about that.” And she did.
When Kardashian later came out for the interview, Lawrence asked her a bunch of odd questions. It began with Lawrence questioning, “Do you think it’s a coincidence that Reggie Bush’s wife looks exactly like you?” The movie star next said, “I’ve been obsessed with you for a long time.” The two women then discussed how they met several years ago in a New York Hotel.
After that, Lawrence talked about how two weeks ago she went to Kris Jenner’s house for dinner. “It was everything I ever dreamed it would it be,” confessed the Oscar winner. Kardashian, who joined for the meal with Kanye West, revealed, “I’ve never seen my mom more drunk,” to which Lawrence admitted, “I was way more drunk than your mom.” In fact, she was so hammered, the actress really ended up “butt naked” in Jenner’s closet and asked West to “style” her.
Following that anecdote, Lawrence asked Kardashian about West and whether “you fart in front of each other.” “I don’t fart,” replied the reality star. Lawrence also got Kardashian to talk how how she’s a “bona fide hacker.” The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star acknowledged she used to break into other people’s phones to “get info on their boyfriends,” but she no longer hacks.
The two women then talked about how Kardashian’s cosmetics line look like dildos. From there, Lawrence asked what she thought of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber getting back together. “So cute,” responded Kardashian. Others topics touched on were which sister lost her virginity first, whether Kardashian was ever cheated on, and the most “incorrect rumor” she’s ever heard about herself. Kardashian also answered what the weirdest thing West does. She said, “He falls asleep anywhere.”
Out of nowhere Lawrence also asked if Kardashian has spoken to O.J. Simpson since his release. The reality star said she hasn’t talked to him in years, nor did she ever ask if he killed his wife. Additionally, Lawrence showed a mock-up of how she put herself in the Kardashians’s annual Christmas card. Other non-sequiturs were about what the family did for Halloween, “How did you pick your surrogate and why didn’t you ask me,” and “What do you think about Blac Chyna”?
Lawrence has made her Kardashian-Jenner fandom well-known over the years, and she’s had the opportunity to spend time with some of the famous family on various occasions. In 2015, Lawrence’s friends even arranged for Kris Jenner to surprise her for her birthday, leading to a photo of the two women in bed together that went viral online. Lawrence later recalled in an interview, “It was the closest I’ve ever come to losing consciousness.” The fun encounter ended up sparking a false tabloid story in Heat that wrongly claimed Kris then set up Lawrence with Rob Kardashian.
More recently, in her Vogue cover story for the September 2017 issue, Lawrence recounted how the crew made her a “Kardashians tent” on the set of Mother!, so she could have a place to retreat to during production of the intense film. “It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ playing on a loop — and gumballs,” Lawrence told the magazine.
Both stars have appeared on the late-night ABC talk show in the past as guests with Kimmel, but this was obviously a very different experience with Lawrence herself behind the signature host’s desk. Kimmel initially took this week off because his son Billy was expected to have his second scheduled heart surgery, but because the family came down with colds, it wasn’t safe to proceed with the operation. Kimmel still went ahead with his plan to use guest co-hosts, anyway.
The special run of shows began on Monday with Shaquille O’Neal at the helm. Dave Grohl took over on Tuesday, and it was Channing Tatum’s turn to play host on Wednesday. Guests throughout the week have included Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Pink and Ellen DeGeneres, who amusingly tried to guide Tatum through the steps of doing a celebrity interview. Tonight’s installment with Lawrence and Kardashian will cap off the week, as “Jimmy Kimmel Live” typically airs repeats on Friday.
