Hadiza Dairet Kasimu is President of the Association of Deaf Women of Nigeria and advocates for the cause of people with disabilities. The day that Hadiza was going to write her final exams in primary school she became ill and by the end of this week she lost her hearing. Fortunately, a family member who heard about her case enrolled her in school with the support of her mother, who funded her studies up to university level. She has years of experience in different areas of community development and leadership, including advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities in Nigeria, particularly women and girls with disabilities. Hadiza is the coordinator of the Voice of Disabilities Initiative, and women's coordinator for the National Mixed Persons' Handicap Association, Nasarawa State Chapter. She advises women and girls in her local community on honest living, gender equality and financial independence, and encourages them to develop skills, counseling spouses, overcoming barriers and finding opportunities to participate. employment. in politics.
