LASG Signs MoU On Mobile Science Academy

The Lagos State Government  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BASF West Africa on Mobile Science academy to formalize their mutual commitment to research and innovation. and the further promotion of Science Education in the State.

The Governor was represented by the deputy governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Oluranti Adebule noted that the mutual agreement is to further the promotion of Science Education in the State.

She added that in the Science and Technology Strategy for Lagos State (2016 – 2019), Science, Research and Innovation is a strategic priorty under its Mega City Programme.

Adebule said that the Mobile Science Academy will bridge the gap in the current state of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education by providing mobile science facility/laboratory to enable students acquire practical knowledge and hands on experience of the science theories they are taught

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Olufemi Odubiyi said the Mobile Science Academy is particularly important because of the global trend in the lost of Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in education.

He noted that signing of the MoU is a commitment of the partnership between the two parties.

The Head of Market Area Africa, BASF West Africa Ltd, Dr. Michael Gotsche, said Lagos State Government and BASF West Africa Ltd. have a shared interest in scientific progress and education, noting that both parties are committed to targeted development of scientific outreach and educational initiatives in Lagos State.
