Fatma Samoura Is The First African Woman To Become FIFA’s Secretary General

 Fatma Samoura is the only the first African and non-European, but also the first woman to hold the post of FIFA Secretary General.



Born in Senegal in 1962, she was appointed to the position on May 13, 2016. Before this, Samoura worked with the UN for 21 years.
 She was the Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator (DHC) for Eastern Chad, a job that included working with refugees and internally displaced persons, and also providing support and guidance to seven UN agencies and over 40 NGOs in the country.
Samoura assumed the FIFA position in June 2016. She handles the commercial and operational side of the world football-governing body.
