UFC 281: Pereira Stuns Adesanya To Claim Middleweight Title

In the main event of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 281, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York, Israel Adesanya of Nigeria was defeated by Alex Pereira and forfeited his middleweight title.

Up until the last exchange, Adesanya had been dominating the battle. However, Pereira unleashed a barrage of blows as Adesanya was pinned against the cage.

The Brazilian had defeated the 33-year-old Nigerian twice in kickboxing back in 2016 and 2017, and he was out for vengeance.

After a barrage of left hooks and right punches, referee Marc Goddard intervened to put an end to it.

On the scorecards of the three judges going into the fifth round, Adesanya led 39-37.

In just his ninth MMA match as a professional, Pereira wins the middleweight title.
