This year, she garnered nominations in the categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year for “Break My Soul,” Song of the Year for “Break My Soul,” Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul, Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove,” Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa,” and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Be Alive” from King Richard.

She tied Paul McCartney for the second-most Grammy nominations in 2020 with 79, making her the most nominated female artist overall. According to the official Grammy website, at the time, only producer Quincy Jones and rapper Jay-Z had received more Grammy nominations, each receiving 80.

The nominations announced today also position her to surpass other artists in terms of Grammy wins. Georg Solti, a prominent conductor who has won 31 accolades, currently holds the title. As of now, Beyoncé is the most honored female artist with 28 golden gramophones.

Grammy Awards: Beyoncé’s Renaissance

This past July, Beyoncé released Renaissance, her seventh studio album. The businesswoman made hints about the album’s concept in an interview for Harper’s BAZAAR’s September 2021 cover story long before she formally confirmed the project.

“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible,” she said at the time. “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”
