With performances of "It's Givin" and the "Big Energy" remix plus a surprise appearance by Mariah Carey with her distinctive whistle register, Latto lit up the 2022 BET Awards stage while dressed entirely in black.
The song's original release date was September 2021, but Carey joined a March 2021 remix of the song.
Carey sang a high note while concealed behind a screen during their joint live performance of "Big Energy."
Confetti showered down as she was exposed, and Latto presented Carey with a bouquet of flowers once it was lifted.
Below, you can see it happen.
Earlier in the evening, Lizzo performed "About Damn Time" off her upcoming album Special live to kick off the BET Awards.
Latto released her second album, 777, in April.
It also contains the tracks "Soufside," "Wheelie," and "Sunshine" with Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne, in addition to "Big Energy."
She worked with Lakeyah on the song "Mind Yo Business" earlier in June.
2019 saw the release of Mariah Carey's most recent album, a deluxe edition reissue of Merry Christmas.
Since then, she has shared a collection of rarities, revealed a memoir, appeared in an AppleTV+ holiday special, recorded "Oh Santa!" with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson, and joined Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis on "Somewhat Loved."
Carey also disclosed that in 1995, she quietly started working on "an alternative record."
Latto has had a successful year after winning Best New Artist at the BET Awards.
At this year's show, she is also a contender for Female Hip-Hop Artist.
Prior to this, she was nominated for a BET Hip Hop Award, a Billboard Music Award, and an MTV Video Music Award.
