The Series' Background:
"Under the Banner of Heaven" is a limited series based on Jon Krakauer's true-crime bestseller that explores the circumstances leading up to the 1984 murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty and her baby daughter in a Salt Lake Valley suburb.
Detective Jeb Pyre uncovers buried secrets about the beginnings of the LDS religion and the tragic consequences of uncompromising devotion as he investigates events within the Lafferty family.
Pyre, a devoted Mormon, is forced to rethink his own religion as a result of what he discovers.
