Born in 1979, Bedwei was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of one but she has refused to let her disability affect her career path. Today, she is the co-founder and chief technical officer of software company Logiciel, and is considered one of the most powerful women in financial technology on the continent.
Farida is a role model to children with disabilities and in her bid to help them see that they are living a normal life.
Growing up, Farida loved reading about superheros but she never found a superhero with her condition, so, she decided to create one herself.
Her comic book character, Karmzah gets her power from her crutches that she has to use for her cerebral palsy.
The Ghanaian, Nigerian born artist hopes her creation will improve social attitudes towards people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
“I think that by changing the thinking of the next generation of children, you can gradually make cerebral palsy or other disabilities seem normal in the society,” she told BBC Africa.
