Court Awards N5m Against Clarence Peters

The judgment was delivered by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun was in favour of Uwana Victor and Akan Victor, trading under the name, Black Alliance.




According to Punch,the judge, in the May 4, 2018 judgment, held that,
“In the circumstances of this case, I have no doubt that the defendant (Peters) took advantage of the plaintiffs and infringed on their copyright.
“Both general and special damages are compensatory damages. General damages are loses which flow naturally from the defendant’s conduct and its quantum need not be pleaded or proved as it is generally presumed by law.
“…I believe that the plaintiffs’ claim for damages amount to general damages and in the circumstance, I believe general damages will adequately take care of the loses occasioned by the defendant’s conduct. The sum of N5m only is awarded against the defendant.”
Peters has, however, headed for the Court of Appeal, seeking to set aside the judgment.

On the terror attack that took place after her concert in Manchester: I guess I thought with time, and therapy, and writing, and pouring my heart out, and talking to my friends and family that it would be easier to talk about, but it’s still so hard to find the words. When you’re so close to something so tragic and terrifying and opposite of what music and concerts are supposed to be, it kind of leaves you without any ground beneath your feet.

On featuring Nicki Minaj on “The Light”: I went in my slippers and pajamas to the studio and she killed it. That’s what Nicki Minaj does, she elevates a record. If you’re going to have a rapper on a song, they need to really really really be there for a reason, and she does that every single time.
On going to therapy: It has helped me deal with so much. I think it’s great for everybody. Especially in this regard. Therapy is the best. It really is.

Kirk Franklin Slams Preacher Jesse Duplantis For Asking For 4th Private Jet

Kirk Franklin has slammed televangelist, Jesse Duplantis, who already has three private planes,for saying God told him to get a 4th private jet worth $54million.


In a message,Jesse said


‘We’re believing God for a brand new Falcon 7X, so we can go anywhere in the world in one stop. ‘Now people say, “My lord, can’t you go with this one?”. “Yes, but I can’t go in one stop”. ‘If I can do it for one stop, I can fly it for a lot cheaper because I have my own fuel farm. And that’s what’s a blessing of the lord.’


Posting a screenshot of the headline on Instagram,Kirk wrote
This is Jessie Duplantis. A televangelist who has four planes, and is now telling us that “Jesus” wants us to buy him another one. I’m posting this because now that we see popular culture stand up to the injustices in mainstream society, I believe the church should do the same for its own as well. WE should take the lead when there is an abuse of power that affects our message to the masses; our silence can be as loud as the bigotry and racism we see in the public square.






He continued
Many of these “ministries” built their wealth on the backs of poor rural minorities that put their trust in the hands of “god’s shepherds” only to see the prosperity benefit those doing the preaching. Again, there are GREAT Christian leaders, and there is NOTHING wrong with having a plane… but if the burden falls on the less fortunate and GREED is the check written by those drowning in socio-economic rivers of systemic disparities, GOD is not flying that plane.

Jesse Duplantis Asks Followers For $54m To Buy Private Jet, Says ‘It’s What Jesus Would Do’

68-year-old Jesse Duplantis, who is based in Louisiana, sought the donations in a video posted on his ministry’s website.A televangelist has asked his followers to donate money so he can buy a $54m private jet, The Independent UK reports.
“You know I’ve owned three different jets in my life and used them and used them and just burning them up for the Lord,” he said.
“Now, some people believe that preachers shouldn’t have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to go on every available voice, every available outlet, to get this gospel preached to the world.”
In the video, he points to pictures on the wall of previous jets he’s bought, before moving on to the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek.
“This is the Star Trek Enterprise,” he said. “This is where I’m going, praise God. What I’m believing God for.”
He went on to say: “Let me just say this: we’re believing God for a brand new Falcon 7X so we can go anywhere in the world in one stop.”
Justifying his choice of jet, he said: “Now people say ‘my Lord, can’t you go with this one?’” as he pointed to one of his older jets. “Yes, but I can’t go at one stop.”
He said he could fly cheaper with his own private jet because he has his “own fuel farm” and he “can avoid all those exorbitant prices for jet fuel all over the world”.
The televangelist went on to say God told him he needed the Dassault Falcon 7X.
“He told me: ‘Jesse, you want to come up to where I’m at?’ He said: ‘Before you ask, I’ll answer: Isaiah 65:24.’ He said: ‘I want you to believe me for a Falcon 7X.’”
He said he then wondered how he was going to pay for the jet, then claimed God told him: “Jesse, I didn’t ask you to pray for it. I asked you to believe for it.”
Mr Duplantis asked his followers to become a partner in buying the plane and help him and his wife fund the purchase, which he said would be made in cash.
“We never ask you to give anything that me and Cathy don’t give ourselves.”
He added: “I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the Earth today he wouldn’t be riding a donkey. Think about that for a minute. He’d be in an aeroplane preaching the gospel all over the world.”
It comes months after another televangelist, Kenneth Copeland, brought a new Gulstream V jet “debt free” for “the Lord’s work.”
When the plane entered the market in 1998, it cost $36m.

Kanye West Is Endearing – Christina Aguilera

Kanye west produced the tracks ‘Accelerate’ and ‘Maria’ on the ‘Fall In Line’ singer’s new album, ‘Liberation’, and while she was blown away by Kanye’s artistry and they “clicked” immediately, she doesn’t agree with everything he says.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “[Kanye’s] always said things that have stirred controversy and attention. I’m not getting involved in what he’s saying or anything like that. I know him as an artist.
“I do know that when we sat down and he played me these tracks, he got me.
“I think he’s an artist first and foremost and we’re not always going to agree with artists.
“I loved our initial meeting and we totally clicked. I found him to be very endearing.”

The 37-year-old star worked with the 40-year-old producer on the two tracks in Malibu, California in early 2016, but they lost touch after he embarked on his ‘Life Of Pablo’ tour later that year, during which Kanye was hospitalised with exhaustion.

She said previously: “There were some personal things that arose…”
The ‘Dirrty’ hitmaker revealed the new album has a strong hip-hop feel to it, insisting she sees herself as more of a soul singer than a pop star.

Christina said: “To me, there’s nothing like an amazing hip hop beat.

“At the end of the day, I am a soul singer. When you strip back the words ‘pop star’ and the many things that I’ve done, singing soulfully is where my core, my root and my heart really is. And as you can see, it’s what I’m inspired by.”

‘Liberation’ is Christina’s first album in six years, with her last studio venture being 2012’s ‘Lotus’.

11-Year-Old lands $11 million deal to sell her Lemonade Juice

11-year-old Mikaila Ulmer‘s homemade lemonades are so good that Whole Foods has signed an $11 million deal to have it sold in their 55 stores.

According to Business Insider, Mikaila uses a tasty mint, flaxseed, and honey lemonade recipe she inherited from her grandmother.




She got the inspiration after getting bit by bees – twice! “It was painful. I was terrified of bees,” she said.




But then, “something strange happened.” She “became fascinated with bees.”
It was then she decided to use her grandmother’s recipe – with honey – to raise money to help bees.
Mikaila has won $60,000 in seed money when she appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” served lemonade to President Obama, and was a part of Google’s Dare to be Digital campaign.

On why she chooses to be an advocate for all: Being multicultural, you can’t help but be interested and connected to the world around you. My family is from all over the world, so how can you not care for people around the world too
On deconstructing what part of her is Iranian and what is African-American: No, I don’t see much of a ‘this is my black side and this is my Iranian side’, because I come from a family of socially-engaged humans, and it’s hard to identify because of how similar both sides are. But I have to say, I was at the Met Gala recently and I saw a pomegranate and I proceeded to cut it open and serve pomegranate to people at my table. That’s pretty Iranian.

On celebrating Nowruz (Iranian New Year): It’s pretty cool. It’s 13 days and it represents the beginning of spring, and it’s fun getting older and learning more about where it came from, how it started. Even things like Chaharshanbe Suri, where we jump over the fire to give all your illness and negativity to the flames and to start anew.
On reacting to people’s misguided opinions about the Iranian community:[I] constantly put myself in a position to help other people understand my background. There’s a certain separatist movement happening versus understanding how connected we are. So much of what we believe stems from similar origins, so it means you can relate to one another if you really listen and pay attention.

I could have been like, “Okay, I know this is super uncomfortable but I’ma hop in your face and we’re gonna talk“, but I was like “Okay! Whatever!” Then you think, “It’s not going to affect my life” but it does because your brain keeps going back there.
