Princess Michael of Kent ignited a firestorm wearing jewels considered racist at a rally attended by Meghan Markle.
The 72-year-old princess, married to the queen's cousin, sported a blackamoor brooch.
The statement is controversial because it fetishes dark-skinned slaves and servants.
Social media has exploded in response to jewelry. It is believed that this is the first time that the 72-year-old king and Markle, whose mother is black, have met.
But this is not the first time that Princess Michael has triggered a racial fury. In 2004, she was accused of telling a group of blacks in a New York restaurant to "go back to the colonies". She denied the allegations at the time.
Princess Michael's spokesperson told TMZ that she was "very sorry and anxious" to wear the race-insensitive lapel pin. A source claimed that it was a comma. The Royal plans to remove the pin.
