Airport Worker Punches A Passenger In The Face While He Carried His Baby

An airport worker has punched a passenger who was holding his baby at the terminal following a grueling 13-hour delay, witnesses have said.

 Witness Arabella Arkwright, who was with her children at the time, told MailOnline of the chaos that unfolded as families waited to board flight EZY2122 from Nice to London Luton.

She said: 'Everyone was having the most appalling day and then, all of a sudden, a man holding a baby gets whacked.'


Mrs Arkwright said the man' was holding his nine-month-old baby while his wife vented their frustration at the lack of baby food and seats to airport employees.

She said the alleged attacker, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, repeatedly smiled at the family before lunging at the father.

‘Then out of nowhere, he just whacked him.

My husband, who's 64, had to pull the man off him and hold him against a glass door. Everyone was appalled.

The airline however has a thing to say about it. According to the airline's spokesperson; 'EasyJet is very concerned to see this picture and can confirm the person in the photo is not an easyJet member of staff nor do they work for easyJet's ground handling agents in Nice.'

Forgive Obasanjo And Move On, George Tells Fayose

Chief Bode George, has advised the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, to forgive Obasanjo and move on.
Inan interview with Punch correspondent on Friday. He told Fayose that God had already fought for him by allowing him to return as governor of Ekiti eight years after his impeachment.

George said he was aware that his imprisonment for financial impropriety was “nothing but political persecution” and that was why he was later exonerated by the Supreme Court.

He, however, said he never had the intention of becoming the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees and therefore doubted if that was the reason for his incarceration.


George said, “My advice to my younger brother in Ekiti State is that it is time for him to forgive and forget and let sleeping dogs lie. He was impeached but God reinstated him as governor after eight years. What more can a man ask for?

“He should forgive and forget. We should not wash our dirty linen in public.

“I have always said that my imprisonment was nothing but persecution and I have been vindicated by the highest court in the land. I never wanted to become BoT Chairman so I doubt if that was the reason why I was treated that way. Igbo Nation Should Work With The Yoruba Nation – Pat Utomi

Professor Pat Utomi has said in an interview with The Punch  about the relationship between the Yorubas and Igbos and a the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
He said:

“All politics is opportunistic. I don’t understand it, but I think that all this touchiness in the politics of the South-West/South-East needs to blow over. In my view, we have two stages of quick moves in Nigerian politics now: we need to build a South-South/South-East zone of development, where all of the South-South and the South-East works as a zonal development and it should go into a quick partnership, in terms of development strategy, with the South-West, and then engage other parts of the country that are interested in such a partnership. And I believe that there are many elements reaching for progress in the North that would like to engage with these kinds of partnership for development and the whole of Nigeria can profit from it.

“What people miss, which I find very sad, is that the story of state capture in Nigeria is the story of opportunism by a few people. Then people will say that they are representing northern interests. It is just a couple of 100 of them in their own self-interest. If not, the North would not be as poor as it is today. If they (northern ruling class) really represented northern interests, the North would flourish. But that is not the case. This is a group of selfish people who have taken the possibility of progress for Nigeria and have hurt their own people even more.

“People forget that one of the great heroes of Biafra was (Prof.) Wole Soyinka. He was actually jailed for speaking up (against) the injustices of 1966/1967 that happened to the Igbo people. He was harassed. So, it is not a new tradition from Yorubaland that people of conscience recognise that something is wrong somewhere. Therefore, wherever there are opportunistic people who try to capitalise on these in their own interests, there are people of goodwill and strong conscience who recognise differently. And I think this must be the project now, to get those people of good conscience to break this thing.

“The reason Lagos is as developed as it is, to the envy of everybody, is every simple. During the Civil War, the divide-and-rule game played by the Federal Government led to Igbos being eviscerated in Port Harcourt (Rivers State), which is part of Igboland. Igbos then turned to Lagos and the people of Lagos were welcoming of the Igbo people, and that is why Lagos is the way it is today as a strong centre of commerce in the world. I think that the lessons from that, which is the point I tried to make when the Oba (of Lagos) made a joking remark during the election that people took too far.“Nowhere in Nigeria has been more welcoming of the Igbo nation than Lagos. The consequence of this welcome should be a bridge across the Niger, a handshake across the Niger, which has been used in terminology previously. The Yoruba nation and Igbo nation, which share a lot in terms of enterprise and values, should be able to work together and engage any other part of Nigeria, because it is in the interest of Nigeria to build a whole of all.

Asked whether Igbo governors could be affected for abandoning Kanu in 2019, Utomi said:

I don’t know. It could. It may. But what matters is that there should be accountability for everything. There must be a time to account.

I attended the Institute of Management and Technology for my tertiary education though I was a part-time student.”

Continuing, he said, “Due to lack of funds, there were times I had to stop schooling, but I always continued after sometime. What a lot of people don’t know about me is that I’m a deep thinker and I like to meditate on issues.

 For example, I have a lot of plans for Nollywood and I hope the government can pay more attention to this sector. Nollywood has helped to propagate Nigeria’s culture across the world, and even in far flung countries where you wouldn’t expect, they have seen Nollywood movies there. That should tell you that Nollywood is too important not to be taken serious.

Kano Withdraws 37 Students Over Lacklustre Performance From Egyptian University

Kano State Government has withdrawn 37 students of Kano State studying at the Faculty of Nursing, Mansoura University, Egypt, being sponsored by the Kano State Government.

This was released in a statement signed by Mallam Usman Bello, the Director of Press to the Deputy Governor of Kano State and Commissioner for Education, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar.

John Fashanu Allegedly Spent 2 Days In Nigerian Prison

 John Fashanu was locked up in a Nigerian prison with 200 other prisoners after being accused of a land scam, Daily mail claims.

 Mr Fashanu was arrested at his home on the Sun City Estate in Abuja and taken in on suspicion of 'criminal conspiracy', police have said.

Officers claim the former professional footballer was acting for a friend, who was looking to buy some land, and was handed £23,000 to fix the deal.

The friend said Mr Fashanu told him about two men who were able to help purchase 'forgotten land', but later discovered it was not for sale.


It is understood the 54-year-old denied wrongdoing but had agreed to pay the money back.

Police are on the hunt to find other two men who are said to be involved. Nigerian police Deputy Inspector General Hyacinth Dagala said: 'John Fashanu was arrested on July 17 in connection with an allegation of criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of N9,550,000 [Nigerian Naira] under false pretence, Dailymail further stated.

'He was granted administrative bail on July 18 but because of his inability to produce the requisite surety on that day, he remained in detention until July 19 when he was released.'

A friend of Mr Fashanu's said it was a business deal 'between friends which went south' and police were asked to 'mediate'.
