Sam Uche Anyamele is debuted in Wale Adenuga’s production, ‘Super Story’ where he plays Richard in " No Pain No Gain".

 

 He is makes his debut as a filmmaker and director with ‘Spouse’s Secret’, a movie premiered recently in Lagos.    

Shortly after the premiere, TS Weekend engaged Anyamele in an exclusive chat and the UNILAG graduate revealed how the church played a significant role in shaping his career.

 

 

How did you discover your acting talent?

It started way back in the church. You know, church kept us busy so that we didn’t go into the world. Instead of going into one wrong or the other, the church ensured that we had something doing all the time. That’s where I learnt how to play music. That’s where I learnt how to sing. In fact, everything about the art I practically learnt in my church, Assemblies of God Church.

How did you find your footing in acting?

It was through ‘Super Story’. One day, I went for an audition like every other person; and for unknown reason, I had to wait and wait and wait before it got to my turn. I had an amazing patience that day. But I believe it was divine. God had scheduled that to happen to me and it turned out good today.

Can you list some of the prominent productions you’ve done?

I have featured in over 100 productions, ranging from dramas, soap operas, sit-coms and stage plays. However, I made my debut in the award winning Super Story series, ‘No Pain No Gain’. On the other hand, some of the stage productions I have done include ‘Midnight Blackout’, ‘Nana of the Niger Delta’, ‘Idemili’, ‘Prison Chronicle’ etc.

Which of these works can you classify as the most challenging?

There’s ‘Virginity of the Goddess’ that I shot back then. They took me to a bush in Osun State for the shooting. There were live snakes and all. But I think it worked; it actually worked for me.

One would expect that you’d have a fiancée at this stage…

I’m not yet married. But it would be soon. There are certain things I am waiting for. Maybe, with this production, I’ll do that soon.

Under an amendment “Marriage for all,” the German parliament has passed a law legalizing same sex marriage, granting full rights to gay couples, including rights to adopt a child.



The German legal code has been changed to say “Marriage is entered into for life by two people of different or the same sex.”
The bill was approved by the upper house, after the lower house passed the bill by a margin of 393-226.


German Chancellor Angela Merkel however voted against the bill, saying, “For me, marriage in German law is marriage between a man and a woman and that is why I did not vote in favour of this bill today.”
“I hope that the vote today not only promotes respect between different opinions but also brings more social cohesion and peace,” she told reporters.

Narrating her own side of the story, the former beauty queen said;

 “Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.
“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition.
“He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.
“But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video.
“I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.
“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.
“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.
“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.
“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.
“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).

Talking about the journey to making Isoken, Ms Osiberu revealed “I wrote the script in 2014 and started looking for investors in September of that year. In Janurary 2015, I heard of the Nollyfund at the Bank of Industry and by March had put together all my paperwork to apply for a loan. However, the loan wasn’t approved till over a year later in June 2016 and this was when the film was shot. It has taken another one year to get the film in cinemas Nationwide. so in all, this has been a 3year journey from script to the big screen”

“Well, truth be told, I’m a strong believer that simplicity is elegant, I’m comfortable in my skin, I’m just being me generally, I’m not trying to be somebody else, I’m comfortable in my space. That’s it basically, simplicity is elegance”, she said.

 

She voiced out her opinion about the extravagant lifestyle her colleagues usually display on social media, she said; “I can’t speak for anyone else. What I project on Instagram and other social media platforms is my life, my life when I’m not on set.
